Short[edit]

This article is way too short and needs more than one citation/reference for a GA rating. egde 21:15, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA[edit]

This article is not even close to being a good article. It's missing chunks of information found in other albums. Look in the recordings section of WP:GA for examples.--Wizardman 22:16, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GA Re-nomination[edit]

After adding several new sections, I have renominated this article for GA. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 00:38, 22 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GAN[edit]

Here are some comments to improve the article. Lets see what will be the decisions of GA reviewers. --BritandBeyonce (talk) 07:38, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article is not broad.
  • There is no production history especially the recording process.
checkY Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 02:19, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • it does not speak of the general content of the album (e.g. lyrical content) or musical style.
  • Complete the infobox (with writers).
Writers? --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 06:00, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh sorry. Just forget the writer thing. --BritandBeyonce (talk) 10:37, 6 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • A lot of professional reviews were in the infobox but the critical reception is very short for an album.
checkY Done. I lengthened it somewhat significantly, but I will have to add more later. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 02:24, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Mention in the reception section the album’s chart performances.
checkY Done. I put it in the lead. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 07:24, 3 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Remove the “not certified” thing and unbold 1; its POV.
checkY Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 01:09, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • When a single is part of the quoted material, use single quotation marks.
checkY Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 00:47, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Mention what were the album’s feedbacks from critics in the lead.
checkY Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 01:09, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redundant linking in the track listing area.

  • The first paragraph of "Songs" needs less quotes. --andreasegde (talk) 13:33, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry, but there are more problems here:

"popular American proverb",

checkY Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 21:57, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"frequently praised",

checkY Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 21:54, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"seems to be firing a shot across the bow" (is this relevant?)

checkY Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 21:57, 17 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The quotes seem to be some kind of street-speak, and are POV. --andreasegde (talk) 13:33, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

GA on hold[edit]

  • "The album peaked at #17 on the Billboard 200" - Billboard goes in italics
Done Some magazines that were overlooked, now in italics. --Efe (talk) 09:39, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • So many Professional reviews in the infobox...IMO remove the ones without articles for a start, and even then be picky
 Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 23:38, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Quote in Conception and production needs a source. I also don't see how it's SO significant
 Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 23:31, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • "...spent writing songs for Why Should the Fire Die?, many songs were written" - really doesn't read well...
 Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 23:29, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Chris Thile reportedly used candles to light the studio and drank Jameson Irish Whiskey." - yeah, so what? Why?
 Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 23:29, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • You don't need to quote so much; use prose more (especially the Rolling Stone quote which sort of answers the above)
 Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 23:29, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Seriously, with the JamBase quote, enough is enough...that's verging on copyvio stuff. Use prose
 Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 23:29, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • ""rock energy level and some sonic manipulation, with" - sonic is a dab page, and the wiktionary link isn't necessary
 Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 00:15, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't think it relevant to discuss every.single.song.
  • "has been said to feature "irregular tunings"[22]" - need some punctuation under the ref
 Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 00:12, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Why Should the Fire Die? received rave reviews from United States contemporary music critics." - this isn't worded well. You don't need to wlink the US either, everyone knows what that is...
 Done. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 00:09, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • Did it chart overseas at all?
 Done. No, it didn't. --Thamusemeantfan (talk) 04:09, 21 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, that's about it. Note on my talk page when done please. Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 08:02, 20 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Passed. dihydrogen monoxide (H20) 02:16, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Assessment comment[edit]

The comment(s) below were originally left at Talk:Why Should the Fire Die?/Comments, and are posted here for posterity. Following several discussions in past years, these subpages are now deprecated. The comments may be irrelevant or outdated; if so, please feel free to remove this section.

The article has nice starting information that most album articles don't have. It has Billboard chart positions and other nice features, but it is still shorter than most good album articles.
