WhyteWhyte (disambiguation)— Relisting  Ronhjones  (Talk) 22:49, 10 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

MOS:DAB indicates excluding entries that include the disambiguated term as only part of their title. The idea being that the dab serves to quickly direct readers who already have a given topic in mind, when that topic shares its name with other topics. Those readers looking for topics for which a given term is only part of their names should use Search. Note that I had already included a shortcut to this at the top of the See also section. The deletion of most of the entries was appropriate per WP:PTM/WP:NOTDIR. But I don't care about the move since it replaces one directory list with another one. (The surname "article" has no article, just a list of names.) — AjaxSmack 03:21, 11 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
True enough, but the name article has a basis for substantive content, whereas the dab arguably should be deleted. ENeville (talk) 17:41, 15 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose -- the surname article should be expanded. When there is no Primary Topic, the disambiguation page is the main page, with a link from title (disambiguation). That's the case here. And I strongly disagree with the removal of {{geodis}} here.

  • Oppose because a surname page is a variant disambiguation page. Let the main disambiguation page stay where it is. 64.105.65.28 (talk) 04:22, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
