Looks good[edit]

Nintendo's marketing babble in WP articles?[edit]

All those things you quoted seem fine to me. Look each word up in the dictionary if you are confused of their meanings. Just because you can't understand it, doesn't mean it is babble. And high means here "high enough", presumably high enough to produce useful readings and survive shock and temperature ranges expected of a consumer level product. 219.90.179.144 (talk)

Software compatibility?[edit]

  2. Only on software which is designed to support it.

Is it possible the addition of additional weight on the back end of the remote simply shifts the center of gravity in your hand, thus making it easier to control? You can't really shift your grip too much without losing contact with the buttons, so maybe it's not a technology improvement, but a balance improvement.

About the Wii-mote Jacket[edit]

The picture on the box i saw at a store looked like it showed the device not connected to the Wii-mote, yet still in the sleeve. Please tell me that the thing isn't permanently attached to that damn thing, cuz i hate those dumb sleeves. If i have to, i'll rip it off.The Great Morgil (talk) 02:24, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It is hooked into the sleeve with the aforementioned feet and two nubs in the sleeve plastic that stick into the screw holes of the sensor unit, but it is not irremovably attached. Nevertheless, the sensor unit is not designed to be removed from the sleeve, and removing it leaves an ugly gap at the transition, the feet and expansion cover prevent placing the thing vertically without a sleeve, the connection appears to be a little loose and there might be additional stress on the clamps that might lead to early failure. 87.123.43.214 (talk) 10:46, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Does MotionPlus really have a single dual-axis gyro?[edit]

The page currently states:

The device incorporates a dual-axis "tuning fork" angular rate sensor, which can determine rotational motion.

At least one of the refeneces appears to back this up, but does it only have one? This interview with some Nintendo engineers says:

combine the Wii Remote’s accelerometer with a gyro sensor, it can detect movement along 6 different axes.

6 different axis implies 3 gyros to go with the 3 accelerometers. The reverse enginnering going on here also indicates 3 gyros. Given all that, I wonder if the MotionPlus really uses a single InvenSense IDG-600 dual-axis gyro - surely it must either have two of them, or it uses something else entirely.192.171.3.126 (talk) 11:35, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Me again. This page from InvenSense describes a setup of one dual-axis XY gyro, and one single axis Z gyro for a game controller (plus accelerometers). This pdf shows a three chip collection of one XY-gyro, one Z-gyro, and one XYZ-accelerometer (although InvenSense do not make the Wiimote's accelerometers).192.171.3.126 (talk) 13:00, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Me again again. I Googled a bit, and discovered the Wii MotionPlus also appears to have an Epson X3500W single axis gyro, as well as the InvenSense IDG 600 dual axis. For example here or here. I don't believe the actual model number can actually be confirmed based on what has been shown (Why would it be X3500W, rather than XV-3500W, or XV-3500CBW?). I think you could mention that based a similar form and markings to the XV-3500CB, a microchip identified in a teardown of the Wii MotionPlus is believed to be a one-axis rate gyro by Epson Toyocom. As for standards for reliable sources, you may want to seek references that are not open wikis. With respect to editing, go ahead and be bold. I think it's pretty solidly known that the Motion Plus has one dual-axis gyro and an additional single-axis gyro now. Zelda Bundled[edit]

Empty Space[edit]

There's a specific template that makes the next section start after the end of the infobox (it look like this: {{-}}); simply remove that and "Third-party accessories" will start directly below the "Wii Remote Plus" paragraph instead. However, if you do remove it I would recommend placing another one at the end of either "Third-party accessories" or "See also", as otherwise it will stack with the references section.
Alternatively, the infobox could simply be removed - all the info is already covered in the Wii Remote and Wii Motion Plus infoboxes anyway (the image should be retained as a thumbnail if that approach is taken though).
