McIntyre not the first[edit]

Wilbert McIntyre was not the first MP from Alberta. Frank Oliver was. He was not even the first MP from the riding named Strathcona. Peter Talbot elected in 1904 was. McIntyre was elected in a by-election, that means he replaced a sitting MP between general elections, thus proving he was not the first. One could say McIntyre's election as MP made him the first MP elected in Alberta after Alberta became a province. Alberta had joined Confederation in 1870. and Frank Oliver and Peter Talbot had already been elected to represent Alberta before provincehood. The by-election was held because the sitting MP Peter Talbot was appointed to the Senate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.52.225.148 (talk) 18:02, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
