Winning distance[edit]
Modern sources say he won the Derby by two lengths. Most contemporary reports say one length. Tigerboy1966 (talk) 16:57, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
Myth[edit]
Some contemporary sources got rather carried away with WD's amateur connections and described him as being ridden by a "stable boy" in the Derby. This is untrue and a bit of an insult to Robert Sherwood, who was a good professional jockey.Tigerboy1966 (talk) 17:07, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
