  1. Writing/style
  • Quick spotchecking found no concerns with copyvio or close paraphrasing
  • The lead in particular could use some copyediting for clarity and flow
Moved things around some, deleted one issue not lede-worthy and general fixes
  • Some minor grammatical errors or inconsistencies throughout
still working on this
Pretty sure this has been addressed.
  • "appointed from his native state" - what does this mean? Remember that not all readers will necessarily be familiar with the topics addressed
Added that his native state is Ohio. General cleanup of prose
  1. Verifiability
  • Who is Terry Pepper?
The copyright holder of the cited website, should probably just take it down as that doesn't mean the author. Its a mediocre reference so will look for something better
I took that entire sentence out since we already have a nice compendium of lighthoises listed and the reader should get the point
  • What makes this a reliable source?
Not reliable so I found a better source
  1. Coverage
  • Would like to see more from Early life if at all possible
I would too! I've been scrounging everywhere and I can't find a thing...not the names of his parents, not even his wife or where he was married. I am going to keep looking.
  • "Legacy" section seems to combine that and a personal/character section - might be worth splitting off. That would also provide more opportunity to discuss the place and manner of death, if known
I split the top section of legacy and added to section above that and did further clarifications to improve flow and structure.
  1. Neutrality
  • "Overshadowed by subsequent larger events where the nation's objectives were turned away from western exploration and expansion, the geological, cartographical and historical importance of the expedition nearly vanished into obscurity" - uncomfortable with the phrasing of this, seems a bit unencyclopedic in tone, though definitely an important point to make
Going to look at this again...it needs to be more encyclopedic but it is a summary of a series of points I saw somewhere.
Hopefully my adjustments have straightened this out
  1. Stability
  • No concerns
  1. Media
  • No concerns.

I'll put this on hold for a few days, though I don't expect it will take too long to address the issues. Nikkimaria (talk) 23:18, 29 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for your input! Will address these issues in the next couple days--MONGO 02:20, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Still in progress....I added responses in italics.--MONGO 23:29, 30 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Close...will run through it one last time yet.--MONGO 23:39, 1 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've started a little copyedit and, as the representative of the ignorant non-Americans, have added {{clarify}} and {{how?}} and {{what the hell?}} templates here and there. I'll be back for more tomorrow, but, meanwhile, isn't the "Raynolds Expedition" section, while very interesting, rather long as a summary of its "main article" Raynolds Expedition? Are you sure you've killed enough darlings there, MONGO? P.S., I do love the detail, so concisely told, of the 1848 American flag found at the summit by a French expedition in 1851! Bad luck for the froggies, hahahaha! Bishonen | talk 20:52, 2 September 2014 (UTC).[reply]
Thanks Bish...I was having a time for some reason wordsmithing this article...so your assistance is most helpful. The main expedition article is a copy paste from this one and that story there needs to be expanded greatly at another time...much needs expansion about Raynold's encounters with native American tribes; there was an incident where a large war party was ready to fight the expedition members. Specifics about the efforts to get into Yellowstone are abbreviated here...they also spent two weeks in Jackson Hole valley trying to cross the Snake River and that is omitted here. In other words, since Raynolds is best remembered for leading the expedition, I have a large swath of info here about that but it is not the full story, its actually a summary. I will address your comments in the article and await further suggestions at your convienence.--MONGO 22:06, 2 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Been a few days and thanks to some excellent wordsmithing and requests for clarification by Bishonen I think the article is greatly improved. Nikkimaria, are there any other areas I need to work on?--MONGO 21:42, 6 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Oops, I think I left it unfinished, sorry. Done a few further little tweaks, see what you think, MONGO. I'm happy now if you are. You're a very clever article writer! Bishonen | talk 23:49, 6 September 2014 (UTC).[reply]
Thats fine. Not sure why but this article was giving me fits as to how to better word things. I know what Nikkimaria is looking for but I was at a loss...your aide is much appreciated!--MONGO 01:18, 7 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Looks much better, both, thanks for your work on this. Passing it now. Nikkimaria (talk) 02:28, 7 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
