Children[edit]

The number of children of the marriage is under discussion. According to the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, there were nine daughters and three sons; though that source only identifies two sons. See the end of s:Keith, William (d.1581) (DNB00) for an account of seven of the daughters, in the first edition Dictionary of National Biography. Ok thst's a RS. We can include the daughters. But I would suggest only listing the two sons.--Jeanne Boleyn (talk) 08:50, 19 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The Numbering of the Earls of Marischal of Scotland c 1458[edit]

Thomas Innes of Learney has that the 1st Earl is William Keith d. 1463, and his son William Keith d. 1483 is 2nd Earl (not 1st), and his son William Keith d. 1530 is 3rd Earl (not 2nd); and his son Robert died before him so his grandson William Keith who died 1581 is 4th Earl (not 3rd), but his son William Keith d. 15?? according to Wikipedia. The Peerage has that this William died 09/10 Aug 1580 and therefore before his father so he died as Master Marischal and not as (4th) Earl and his son George Keith (c1553-1623) is listed correctly in the Wikipedia article as 5th Earl Marischal and the Earls' sequence is back on track and therefore, perhaps should not be changed to 6th as suggested by the interpreter of Thomas Innes of Learney sequence. Respectfully suggesting perhaps another look at the death dates. 69.172.165.14 (talk) 07:12, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
