Controversy=[edit]

Untitled[edit]

I am not a medical expert but it seems from the articles I can find, Dr McBride's 'discovery that Thalidomide caused malformations by interacting with the DNA of the dividing embryonic cells' is controversial and not generally accepted. Unless there is supporting evidence for the general acceptability of his theory, i think that rewording of this section is needed.

There is a lot os supporting evidence; see the refs. peterl (talk) 01:07, 22 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Some of the facts in the article are false. No patient of McBride lodged any complaints what so ever. The complaints section of the Health Dept. alone sought to discover some form of malpractice by scrutinizing over 50 patient files (without seeking prior consent from the patients and thus infringing upon thier privacy). Numerous other facts are also imprecise and should be corrected.

Middle name: Griffin or Griffith?[edit]

The Uni of Melbourne and It's an Honour both have "Griffith". What authority is there for asserting it should be "Griffin"? -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 20:40, 11 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I saw Dr. McBride's middle name given as "Griffin" years ago, but cannot locate this, and therefore I do not have proof of this.
Therefore, as all the references state that his middle name is "Griffith", I will change his middle name back to that name. Figaro (talk) 15:51, 13 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
