Lack of referenced material and dubious "facts"[edit]

For example: My recollection from various sources including Gallacher himself was that the CWC's criticism was not of WWI per se but of the profiteering and the munition workers' inability to get a slice of it!

Also...no mention of Lenin's criticism of Gallacher's tactics in "Left Wing Communism...".

Why bring the British Labour Party in on discussion of the Spanish Civil War. Gallacher was not a member of that party and it seems a spurious link...might as well mention Maxton and the ILP, which had already split from the Labour Party, instead.

Gallacher states in Revolt on the Clyde that he was opposed to the war and, inspired by John MacLean, he organised an anti-war meeting in Paisley on the first Sunday of the war. The CWC position was more complex - it was primarily organised around workplace issues e.g. dilution of labour, but it did take positions on issues such as conscription, deportations etc. However, the article states Gallacher's position, not the CWC's.

The reference to Cripps and Bevan is a statement of fact, though it would probably be more accurate to state that they joined Gallacher (and the CPGB), rather than vice-versa.

OK...I might concede the first point for now but I'm still not convinced that the reference to Cripps, Bevan and the Labour Party is necessary (and is perhaps a distraction) given that Gallacher was not a member of their party. Why not a link to the Conservative Party since Gallacher himself claimed that he and Churchill were the only MPs to voice concerns in the House over German re-armament

Might be more pertinent to mention the Glasgow Anarchist Group...of which Gallacher apparently HAD once been a member.--Steelwool (talk) 00:45, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The link with Bevan and Cripps is made with specific reference to the Spanish Civil War... it could also be made in relation to Bevan & Cripps support for the United Front. Grmdy (talk) 16:14, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
