Microsoft Chat is not part of the IE family. It's very old - comes with NT 3.x.--218.102.95.31 (talk) 12:03, 8 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Microsoft Chat was a very stable and widely used program. It was discintuned by Microsoft shortly after the release of Netmeeting. MSN messenger later replaced Netmeeting. Microsoft Chat was discontinued in approximately 1999. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.46.65.41 (talk) 00:21, 25 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move[edit]

This page should be renamed "Windows Chat", because that was the official Microsoft name. As evidence of this, the only external link provided by a previous editor is called "Using Windows Chat in Windows XP" (and this is a link to microsoft.com, so it should be considered authoritative). Also, the program was frequently referred to as WinChat (because it was winchat.exe - hence Windows Chat, not Microsoft Chat!). This page should be moved to have the title "Windows Chat", and "Microsoft Chat" should be redirected to Microsoft Comic Chat (which was its official name starting with the 2.0 release). It's called 'Microsoft Chat' in its about box. Also a screenshot can greatly enhance the article.--218.103.184.59 (talk) 04:05, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
