About the images of posready 2009[edit]

The images downloaded from the Microsoft website is not only evaluation, if you type the OEM product key it will install the Full Copy instead. Also I have confirmed that those registry entries are there.Zapper067 (talk) 12:14, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fourth year of ESU support for Windows Embedded POSReady 7[edit]

216.212.52.123, I recently noticed that 8 days ago in this edit, you reverted edits made by other IP Addresses. You edit might be incorrect, because Windows Update won't check for updates on Windows Embedded POSReady 7 without KB4522133. Also, the system should be hosted on Azure for receiving updates. Because 4522133 from January 10, 2023 also applies to Windows Embedded POSReady 7 (see Microsoft's webpage), the end of ESU support is January 9, not October 8. This is my result when I tried to check for updates. 178.94.181.131 (talk) 13:15, 2 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

KB4522133 may be required for continued support, however, Azure is certainly not required on 7 Embedded. Microsoft continues to list October 8, 2024, here [1] (Note that Azure is only listed as required for 4th year on Server 2008) and here [2] (Again, no mention of Azure). I'm sure if the date was actually changed to January 9, and/or if Azure was required, MS would update those pages. Furthermore, POSReady 7 is currently on it's 2nd year of ESU (started October 12, 2021), ending on January 9, 2024, wouldn't make sense. I've also added two 3rd party refs in the article confirming October 8, 2024 (Yet again, no mention of Azure). I'll say it again, KB4522133 is misleading. 216.212.52.123 (talk) 21:41, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
According to Microsoft's lifecycle webpage, yes, October 8, 2024 is the end of ESU support (On October 10, 2023, the second year of ESU support will expire). ESU year 4 last until January 9, 2024. However, because, according to Microsoft's webpage about KB4522133, this update also applies to Windows Embedded POSReady 7 (note that it also applies Windows Embedded Standard 7 as well), the end of ESU support might be actually on January 9, 2024. October 8, 2024 is according to lifecycle webpage of the operating system. It's not clear why Windows Embedded POSReady 7 has information about the fourth year of ESU support here, as lifecycle webpage doesn't have information about fourth year of ESU support. 178.94.181.131 (talk) 13:09, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
ESU year 4 (via Azure) only applies to Server 2008, so I think it's safe to assume that's what they are referring to in KB4522133. The article's main purpose seems to be to remind that the latest SSU and ESU Licensing Preparation Package is required for continued ESU support on Win NT 6.0/6.1 based OSes, hence the Win7 Embedded mentions. Whoever wrote that article certainly could have made that more clear, though. 216.212.52.123 (talk) 19:17, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
