Removal of content[edit]

Whilst I may be unregistered and I have not (yet) added links/references they are in the pipeline. Much useful information has been detailed here and is publicly available on the official websites. Deactivation of Accounts[edit]

There is no mention here and anywhere about how randomly and deliberately TransferWise can deactivate any account and keep the funds blocked for many months. No clear reasons are given to clients regarding this technique which is not often seen if not at all. There is no help at hand and no proper or structured complaint procedures. Many people have been subject and victim of these unclear actions with their money blocked. Even the largest and biggest international banking institutions which are also bide by strict regulations regarding movement of money transfers are more transparent and do not proceed In this way, and customers always have the right for their questions to be answered when they feel the need to challenge what is imposed on them without warning. TransferWise should not self acquire the right to deactivate clients' accounts and denies them access to their money. If any customer somehow 'breaches' one of their policies they might have the right to deactivate but only after explaining the reasons and refunding the money left in the account, and it is up to TransferWise whether to launch an inquest regarding the account of a client if suspicions arise.

Sorry but people have the right to know about hidden practices before making the decision whether to use a service or not. This has nothing to do with grievance or initiating a complaint. Wrong, I did not violate 3RR. Someone, maybe you, keeps deleting my contributions. This is not only from my own experience. I suggest you do your search before defending anything, this is if you are not part of the company in a way or another. People need to know about the Pros and Cons about what they get into. TransferWise can be at first use a wonderful platform for international money transfer, but every one needs to know as well what are the risks involved in joining them. I can assure you that many banks do the same as does PayPal and other financial institutions, since they are required by law to block suspicious transactions or a suspected misuse of their systems. You can easily Google up complaint forums with regard to pretty much any bank. But here, this is an encyclopaedia and I do not expect otehr editors to consider such common complaints as encylopaedic information (unless extremely well sourced). — kashmīrī TALK 23:22, 11 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not Kashimir, but I can provide a reliable source of information to back-up his (and also my) personal experience. TransferWise practices regarding account lock-ups have become so bad that the Hungarian National Bank (financial authority) issued a warning not to use them unless you're prepared for a multiple-month locked account. This seems FAR too harsh. "Questionable international reputation" is not NPOV whatsoever. Any service that bans people will accidentally ban innocents. I don't speak Hungarian, but the linked source's machine translation seems to be more of a caveat emptor warning, and a statement that Hungarian law will not be able to assist them in the event of any disputes, than actually disavowing of the service. Yes, the Hungarian page appears to me (sorry, using googletrans too) just to be a regular warning to be sensible. It certainly does not establish any general problem with Tfw's reputation, and using a Hungarian example looks to me like dishonesty. OTOH, taking a random "review" website quoted above, I found this: https://www.truthinadvertising.org/consumer-affairs-com/ ... in other words, it is easy to find negative reviews of anyone who isn't paying money to the "review" website. I am moving this paragraph here, until someone can show neutral references to support it.

Notable problems with the service are related to company's issue resolution process. Unlike most traditional banks, TransferWise reserves the right to suspend any account without explanation or prior notice. In that case, it can take up to 90 days to recover access to funds.[1] This practice has led to TranferWise having questionable international reputation. As an example, the Hungarian National Bank has issued a warning about the risks of using TransferWise.[2]

Tidying up this page[edit]

Hello,

I will be undertaking a tidying up of this page over the coming days, predominantly focused on removing content that doesn’t abide by WP:PROMOTION and WP:SOAP guidelines.

Hello,
I have finished tidying up this article. Alongside fixing the subheadings and grammar, I have fixed the intro in line with WP:LEAD, removed content that was in violation of WP:SOAP and WP:PROMO, and deleted any material published with no citations or WP:PRIMARY sources.
There was a lot of fluff in here, including a mention of several financial results and a clearly advertising/marketing-driven desire to showcase a table with every currency/market that this company does business in. WP:NOTNP applies here, and these have been done away with.
If any users with WP:COI want to make edits or additions, feel free to let me know. I also always welcome feedback from wiki editors.

Where's my money[edit]
