Having queried Roman Kroitor about his recollection of Wolf's role in these films, I received the following two responses:

"Wolf had nothing at all to do with the animation on Universe. The person responsible for the animation was Colin (Colin Low), and he was the one contacted by Kubrick to work on 2001, Wolf shot three little actuality shots (the end of the film), I shot several (the actuality stuff at the beginning) but the main cinematographer was Denis Gillson, then head of the camera department.", and

"another point for Wolf's bio, Colin had nothing at all to do with the Cinema Verite stuff".
