Bitcoin Yes/No/WTF?[edit]

just saw a small discussion on reddit about inserting a section about Bitcoin and someone said it is already here. Ok, it got removed as we can see here [1] but the question is, also to prevent an edit war if we want such a section here. Elvis (talk) 11:42, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So what about a section of decentralized cryptocurrencies, instead of specifically bitcoin? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.203.147.50 (talk) 04:47, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • As I understand it, this article is about currencies used in foreign exchange markets and global money transactions, not about private currencies like Bitcoin. As far as I know, Bitcoin has no aspirations to be a world currency and is very unlikely to ever be one Jojalozzo 01:19, 14 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
i am not sure if bitcoin can be called a private currency, since there is no "organisation" behind it that controls it anymore. and the beginning of this article says it is about currencies that are transacted internationaly, not that they are USED for exchange markets. (maybe the introduction of the article is not correct?)87.152.187.162 (talk) 17:45, 26 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

^ Not sure why you would say that, Bitcoin is already a global currency, you can trade it worldwide, buy things online with it, and furthermore, it is now on Bloomberg terminals. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.10.146.32 (talk) 23:46, 13 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think cryptocurrencies should most certainly be added to this page ChaseF (talk) 04:55, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sterling section a bit thin[edit]

A few more words about the role of Sterling in world trade from the early 19th century to ~WW2 would be beneficial. One sentence is a bit lean. if no one else fancies doing it, I'll dive in! BaseTurnComplete (talk) 10:44, 11 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
