I can't believe the chip shop is worth mentioning ...[edit]

So that's coming out, along with the restaurants. That's just silly. Rob Burbidge 13:33, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well Rob, I can't believe that you think it's acceptable to remove a valid comment. I assume you know the area and will have seen the queues outside the chippy most evenings. People need to know how good these local 'fast(ish) food' places are. In case you're wondering I am the person who travels from Las Vegas for a good bit of Fish and Chips (and a curry).

I this spirit of Wikipedia, I shall assume good faith, but it would be a lot better if you could cite your sources and sign your contributions here. At present, it looks like either a silly entry or some kind of advertising. No doubt they are fine establishments, but are they notable in the Wikipedia sense? In 25 years of living in Swindon I've never heard any local person tell me how great they are, or aren't. (I must be bored at work today!) Rob Burbidge 11:02, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Battle of Ellendune[edit]

For anyone who wants to research this a bit further, you could start here. http://www.everything2.com/index.pl?node_id=1730215. I don't have the compentency to decide if this content is useful or not.

Surely on a page as small as this any extra knowlege is if not needed then understandable?(Downforthecount182 18:35, 15 October 2007 (UTC))[reply]

My point was that I wasn't sure if everything2 was any more verifiable than wikipedia itself since it's not a primary or even secondary source. Moreover I know very little about this period of history. Rob Burbidge (talk) 12:37, 27 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
