Notability[edit]

@MatthewAnderson707: can you explain what you think makes this subject notable? Horse Eye's Back (talk) 16:43, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I already answered in a previous talk page: WP:GEOROAD and the admins in charge of WP:USRD do not think your notability tags are in good faith. @Fredddie: or @Imzadi1979: can back up the admin statement I made. — MatthewAnderson707 (talk|sandbox) 16:47, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
GEOROAD says "typically notable" so yes you do actually need to demonstrate notability. I think you misunderstand what admins do on wikipedia and what the difference between an admin and editorial action is. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 16:49, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
And this counts as typically notable, considering hundreds of people use Wyoming state highways every day and it connects the state's communities. — MatthewAnderson707 (talk|sandbox) 20:58, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What does how many people use it or where it connects have to do with notability? Notability is determined by coverage in independent reliable sources and in this context thats all. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 23:19, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Notability also pertains to the number of people that know of said, use said subject, are familiar to said subject and the overall importance of said subject. Just because something doesn't have newspaper articles or magazine articles doesn't make it any less notable. These are major arteries and functions of state governments overseen by lawmakers. How is that not notable? — MatthewAnderson707 (talk|sandbox) 04:03, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
No, WP:NOTABILITY does not. If it doesn't get significant coverage in multiple independent sources it sin't notable, thats how it works. I'd also note that if we were judging Wyoming Highway 410 by your criteria it wouldn't be notable, almost nobody uses it, almost nobody knows of it, almost no one is familiar with it, and the overall importance of something almost nobody uses, almost nobody knows about, and which connects a literal nowhere with a figurative nowhere is negligible. This isn't a major artery by any stretch of the imagination... Its a 13 mile two lane minor road which is only a state highway because its in an incredibly sparsely populated state. Are you confused about what highway we're currently discussing? Horse Eye's Back (talk) 05:09, 28 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
