Explain usage with castling[edit]

Someone explain the example for use of X-FEN when you have to castle. I don't get it. And if I don't get it, other readers won't either. 70.111.219.18 12:49, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rewording[edit]

I reworded much of the article to improve the English, hopefully, without harming the content. However, some sections still need work. I left some of these alone (for example, the en passant section) if I couldn't figure out what is really being said. Dsreyn 19:17, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

En Passant[edit]

I believe the inclusion of the condition "and the e.p. square is empty" is redundant here. An en passant target can only be assigned if the affected pawn has advanced two squares, which would imply that the target square is empty. For this reason I am removing this condition.
