Merge[edit]

Any objection to the XFI merge? These nine-year old standards deserve an article, but would rather have one with citations instead of two with just bullets and jargon. I would say merge to here, since the interface is a subset of the XFP standard, and the XFI term is not often used, nowdays anyway. And perhaps we can doa diagram or something to help a poor reader navigate through this alphabet soup, e.g. XAUI and XGMII etc. W Nowicki (talk) 23:42, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have an objection. A bit of consolation can sometimes improve the understanding of a topic, and I think that would apply here. Just for the record, XFI is a still mentioned even in modern (SFP+ based) designs because some parts still in use today were originally designed to XFI standards. —Mrand ^{Talk • C} 15:18, 8 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the quick feedback. Assuming you meant consolidation. :-) Your last info would be another good reason to replace the "see also" bullet list with some prose that explicitly state how the other ones are relevant, e.g. which are still around and which are defunct, without duplicating too much from those articles.
