It would be great if someone with good knowledge of Toltec mythology and/or history could contribute to the article -- way out of my depth. I don't think the article on Helen of Troy lets the reader think she was a historical person. The first words are "in Greek mythology". There is no such thing as "good knowledge of Toltec history" - basically the question is if the Toltec people was anything more than an Aztec myth - the question of the degree to which individual characters in the Aztec sources have historical foundations is secondary to this. I am not sure how to deal with this in articles about single characters from the Aztec mythology.·ʍaunus·snunɐw· 17:14, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This is where I'm out of my depth... I have no idea where the "trail" disappears in the archeological evidence. At some point, there is nothing to rely on except oral history that survived long enough to be recorded. And oral history going back that far is blended with myth and legend. Or could be entirely myth. Anyway, perhaps one remedy would be the creation of an info bar, or box, with a heading like "Indigenous American Legends". It could be added to articles like this one, but also it could be useful on articles like the main one on Toltec society, etc.? OttawaAC (talk) 03:52, 11 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The article needs an IPA pronunciation guide, or, better yet, an OGG audio clip of the correct pronunciation of "Xochitl". I found a couple of YouTube videos, one of which was created with a very bad text-to-speech generator, making it essentially useless, and the other that gives it as "so-cheel".
