CHAKMA LETTER YAA[edit]

Do we have any evidence for the origin of this letter? I can more easily believe that it was invented by flipping CHAKMA LETTER NYAA about the horizontal axis. --RichardW57 (talk) 22:12, 28 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Now that is an interesting question. I can see both possibilities - it was originally a variation on 𑄠 with a tail above that slowly evolved stylistically to be consistent with 𑄐, or it was a conscious adaptation of 𑄐 to 𑄡 to show a related sound. I'll have to poke around the references to see if anything pops up on that particular question, but I'll remove it from the chart (but leave it in the charmap) for the time being.
