I want to know about lubricant or something about shaft either you must to put some oil to the part or not

Then you should ask at a motorcycle discussion forum. This is an encyclopedia. Respectfully, SamBlob 17:15, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Statement of "Even though it is a cruiser it is not ideal for cruising, mainly due to the air-cooled motor." should be amended due to the fact that it is nonsense and has no supporting proof. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.137.135.77 (talk) 03:49, 11 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

External links[edit]

Why delete external links section? As it's written in rulebook What_Wikipedia_is_not: "There is nothing wrong with adding one or more useful content-relevant links to an article; however, excessive lists can dwarf articles and detract from the purpose of Wikipedia." Also before starting to destroy information and other peoples contributions, it's good idea to read rules about extrenal links. --Siirius Viirius (talk) 18:49, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The following links violate external links normally avoided:
http://www.artsturm.ee/virago_535/index.html violates #11, "Links to blogs, personal web pages and most fansites, except those written by a recognized authority. (This exception is meant to be very limited; as a minimum standard, recognized authorities always meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for biographies)." http://viragotechforum.com/phpBB/ and http://www.vsoc.org.uk both violate #10, "Links to social networking sites (such as MySpace and Facebook), chat or discussion forums/groups (such as Yahoo! Groups), Twitter feeds, USENET newsgroups or e-mail lists."
The following are consistent with Wikipedia:External links, WP:LINKFARM and Wikipedia:Wikimedia Commons
{{commonscat}}
{{nomorelinks}} --Dbratland (talk) 19:02, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
For example Yamaha Virago XV535 - The best middleweight cruiser is the only website in the internet strictly about Yamaha Virago XV535 model. And as I already wrote, external links ARE NOT prohibited, only offensive ones arenot welcomed. Also you should read What should be linked section. Sites that contain neutral and accurate material that cannot be integrated into the Wikipedia article due to copyright issues, amount of detail (such as professional athlete statistics, movie or television credits, interview transcripts, or online textbooks) or other reasons.--Siirius Viirius (talk) 19:07, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, a few external links are allowed, but within limits. Those limits are spelled out in WP:ELNO. I can see how www.artsturm.ee might be OK, if it is "written by a recognized authority", as point #11 says. But as far as I can tell, the site is not even signed by a named author. Anonymous, personal web pages are generally not going to be credited as reliable and authoritative. Can you point out any books, magazines, journals, etc. which cite http://www.artsturm.ee? If you can show others who rely on the site, that would be evidence of authority.
The other links clearly are excluded by #10. But you should go to www.dmoz.org and submit them to be included at the Open Directory Project. DMOZ exists for the express purpose of filling the need due to Wikipedai NOT being a directory of links. This isn't about deleting information, it's a question of putting the information in the right place. Links, mostly, belong on DMOZ, not here. I hope that make sense; please let me know if not. --Dbratland (talk) 19:21, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

E.g. try following Google searches and look at what place is above mentioned website http://www.artsturm.ee/virago_535/

http://www.google.ee/search?hl=en&safe=off&num=30&q=virago+xv+535&btnG=Search

http://www.google.ee/search?hl=en&safe=off&num=30&q=virago+xv535&btnG=Search

http://www.google.ee/search?hl=en&safe=off&num=30&q=yamaha+virago+535&btnG=Search

Does that tell you something? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Siirius Viirius (talkcontribs) 19:52, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It tells me that anyone interested in the XV535 is going to have no trouble finding artsturm.ee, which makes one wonder what purpose is served by having Wikipedia link to it. Note that WP:ELNO points to Self-published sources (online and paper) to explain what the criteria for an "authority" are. We ware looking to see whether or not the author of the web site has been published in reliable third party sources. Wikipedia:Search engine test explains why the popularity of a site, expressed through a search engine, does not give us the kind of evidence we want when establishing WP:RS and WP:V.
I should emphasize that the standard practice is to include a link to DMOZ at the top of every external links section, and the recommended practice is to get your external links listed there. Wikipedia then directs users to DMOZ in the External Links section. Not that it's needed in the case of artsturm.ee, because obviously Google does a very good job of directing traffic there with no help needed from Wikipedia.
You get somewhat different results if you search via Google.com instead of Google.ee, and after all, this is English Wikipedia, not Estonian, but that's really beside the point. Is the author of that site recognized as an authority by any third party publications? --Dbratland (talk) 20:15, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Also! The site hosts copies of obviously copyrighted material under the Tests section, such as the PDF copy of the Motorcycle International article, the copy of the Yamaha flier and Yamaha owner's manual, all copyrighted by their respective owners. Wikipedia:Identifying copyrights in links explains why it is a violation of Wikipedia policy to knowingly direct users to sites that distributed material that violates copyright.--Dbratland (talk) 20:22, 10 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It's either "unique" or it is "one of few" it can't be both! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.153.251.65 (talk) 13:30, 10 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Stator / Regulator - Recitifer[edit]

Hi, I am having some trouble with my bike charging. I am an auto mechanic, so I am just learning about bikes and how to work on them. I have a brand new battery and I am losing voltage slowly. Would the cause be the stator or the regulator. 99.104.96.213 (talk) 23:10, 20 June 2010 (UTC)Thanks, Gary99.104.96.213 (talk) 23:10, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As explained in the notice at the top of the page, is not a forum for questions about bikes. The talk page is to discuss how to improve the article. --Dbratland (talk) 23:25, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hydraulic lifter for XV535[edit]

Hello,

I want to raise my XV535 for general maintenance work. I have seen many lifters on ebay for less than £100 which would suit my budget. The problem with an XV535 is that there is no frame to support the bike on the lifters I can afford. I have seen an adapter on youtube which is from a German fitting it to the underside of the bike's engine to support the bike. Can anyone help me with this or has any ideas?

Regards,

Nalak — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nalak (talkcontribs) 23:29, 23 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
