Künstlerroman?[edit]

Couldn't you say that Youth is a Künstlerroman? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.224.227.2 (talkcontribs) 13 August 2007, 19:09 (UTC). (Stockholm).

Was the title inspired by Tolstoy?[edit]

Tolstoy wrote a fictional autobiographical trilogy (Childhood, Boyhood, Youth), of which the last two are also the name of the first two of Coetzee's fictional autobiographical trilogy (Boyhood, Youth, Summertime). Coetzee has been known to reference Tolstoy (Diary of a Bad Year) as well as other 19th century Russian authors, so it is not inconceivable that they are references. 76.93.191.58 (talk) 04:37, 25 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
