"Unclear clutter"[edit]

Regarding deleted content, why are these photos and content "unclear"? Perhaps some could be removed, but others seem to be helpful. Any suggestions on improving the content and layout is requested. Jim1138 (talk) 04:18, 3 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Too detailed content[edit]

Wikipedia is not a how to guide WP:NOTGUIDE, I do not see any substance in this article other than the photos and a pictorial of how to tie the knot. I'm wondering if there's a better place to merge this article into? Ifnord (talk) 15:34, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Knot pages are incomplete, even useless without section on tying; I suggest to accept "this is how you can tie" as a guide therefore not good, and "this is the usual way it is tied" as encyclopedic info therefore acceptable wikipedia content. There are many such pages, just expand and check the list of "knots by type" at the bottom of the article. Cobanyastigi (talk) 22:53, 7 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You are correct. I will keep that in mind. Ifnord (talk) 22:56, 8 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Issues with the Tying Instruction Pictures[edit]

The first issue is that the tying method shown in pictures at the bottom of this page is for a knot which the creator calls a "jamming false Zeppelin loop". The False Zeppelin is actually the name of a completely different knot that also has its own loop version (identified in the PACI analysis papers). The knot shown would be better identified as an Anti-Zeppelin Loop since it is essentially the standard Zeppelin Loop on its side, which is ideal for ring-loaded applications (just like the Anti-Bowline).

The second issue is that the page layout makes it seem like the step-by-step instructions are for tying the standard Zeppelin Loop, but they are actually for this other knot. The instructions for the standard Zeppelin Loop are shown on the page, but because they are in a rather unique format (single image off to the side showing each step on a single piece of cord), it is not immediately obvious that it is the tying instructions for the first knot. Perhaps a new set of images should be made for the first knot in the same format as the three image version for the second knot.FixedLoop (talk) 20:53, 5 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed. The whole article would benefit from some editing. Maybe the "other version" should even be removed completely. At least I made new diagram for tying that should be clearer. -Buz11 (talk) 16:25, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think adding a "Variations" section at the bottom would clear all this up. The Anti-Zeppelin Loop and False Zeppelin Loop could both be included in those sections. 2001:480:1773:150:0:0:0:A3BB (talk) 17:12, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
