Chapei[edit]

Before the adoption of the pinyin system, the Zhabei district of Shanghai was routinely referred to as Chapei. A search of Google Books (using Chapei Shanghai) will quickly confirm this. (smjwalsh (talk) 22:00, 10 May 2009 (UTC))[reply]

One, "(Chapei)" explains "Zhabei", not "Shanghai". Two, it should be within the template. See latest change. HkCaGu (talk) 05:45, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I understood that Chapei did not explain Shanghai, just used Shanghai in search to make it easier to filter other references to "Chapei". Thanks for putting it in the template. It would be good to have a redirect from "Chapei" to "Zhabei". I'm an historian with research interests in pre Liberation Shanghai, and originally came to this article( after many references to "Chapei" in my reading.smjwalsh (talk) 07:19, 11 May 2009 (UTC))[reply]
