2011 Kazakhstan clashes → 2011 Mangystau riots – This suggestion takes into account two quibbles I have. The first is that Kazakhstan is a huge country, one of the largest in the world, and the unrest has been contained to Mangystau Province thus far; there is no sign that it is spreading. The second is that the term "clashes" is frequently used on Wikipedia to characterize deadly outbreaks of violence between rival groups, as in the case of the 2011 South Sudan clashes article. Name change proposition[edit]

The original move from "2011 Kazakhstan clashes" to "2011 Mangystau riots" was well-warranted, especially given that the page was being updated as the events were taking place. In the aftermath of the event, the media has taken to calling it the "Zhanaozen Massacre", which, like many events later named "massacre", started out as a protest/riot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Massacre). The only place this event has been called the "2011 Mangystau riots" is on Wikipedia. After a Google search and a Lexis-Nexis search, I found that there are a number of references to "Zhanaozen Massacre" and zero references to "2011 Mangystau Riots".Comatmebro ^{~Come at me~} 19:16, 18 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Changes in article[edit]

I find the  [2] source from Global Voice irrelevant, because it just very briefly mentions the protest. Moreover, the sentence does not mention anything from the source except the date and place.
