French/German[edit]

A point of curiosity: Assuming the original pub was in French, did Heine translate it himself for Germany? Or was the French text itself a translation by Heine (or someone else?) from German? Interesting that the German pub was in 1834 and the last essay was published in France in December of that year. I have assumed that he was bilingual and capable of writing this in both languages. I don't know yet, - you are welcome to investigate and add. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 21:51, 23 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
According to the Heine article, "He had little interest in French literature and wrote everything in German, subsequently translating it into French with the help of a collaborator." Jmar67 (talk) 05:36, 24 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Help with ref[edit]

@Gerda Arendt: Please help with ref to DNB. Jmar67 (talk) 11:33, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I don't wuite understand, - I made the existing external to the DNB a ref, hope that helps, but everybody could have done that ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:02, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
This was the first time I had to deal with refs and did not know how to proceed here. Vielen Dank! Jmar67 (talk) 14:09, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
In case of doubt, just copy from what's there, - we are supposed anyway to follow an article's standard of referencing if detectable. When I have time I put them in a separate section as templates, to not clutter the text and make their editing easy. (I hate it if I want to edit a reference, and have to search in the article where it's defined, especially when used multiple times.) When I have no time I just through in a link with title and website. - DNB has a template. If you see an article which has no {{authority control}} (ac) please add it. (It collects data from common sources.) If you see an article which has ac, but no DNB, please add it under external links, using the displayed DNB number as the only parameter value. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:22, 26 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
