Introducing myself, announcing coming additions to the page[edit]

My name is Oliver, I am working for Zurich’s Group Media Relations, and I got asked to make additions to the page which I believe are factual and that help to increase the overall factual information of the company page for Zurich. I have prepared a set of amendments of which I am convinced will make the page more comprehensive, more useful, increase its relevance and quality.

But before I do, I wish to get in contact with the administrators, to find out whether or not they are in agreement with this very posting and the proposed approach. Go ahead, keeping WP:COI in mind. Your company has a history of attempting to censor the article in whatever way puts them in the most favorable light. Thank you. I just changed the introduction paragraph now so that it matches the boilerplate used in news releases. This is a little more accurate, and it holds more core information of the company than the sentence used before. Let me know if it "sounds" too PR-ish and feel free to quench it if needed.
Going forward, I don't think it makes sense to announce all changes I will be doing here on the discussion page. Who is the user, Zurich Financial Services, who is making edits to this article?[edit]

I am working in the Global Media Team in the Corporate Center of Zurich Financial Services and the Head of Global Communications ordered me to update the page in the way I did and I will have to change it back again. Please let me know what your motives are. editor of Zurich Financial Services

I work in Zurich North America. I'm pretty sure the acquisition of Universal Underwriters, Fidelity & Deposit, Colonial Amer. Cas. Co., and the Maryland Companies were later than 1976. I know they show up in loss triangles of more recent data.

History section[edit]

The history timeline was a direct copy of http://www.zurich.com/main/aboutus/history/chronology.htm, so I removed it as a copyright violation. --Finngall talk 16:45, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Finngal I have put the history back in because first ZFS approved of putting it here and second it is not identical with the one of our homepage (it is longer). I put criticism section back into the article. I'm sorry to inform you that the staff of ZFS does not determine what content goes in this article, any sourced material may be included regardless of whether or not it's 'inconvenient' to the PR staff at your company. Image:Zurich Financial.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. This article is very poor quality[edit]

I second what is being said about the self-promotion piece. The whole article still is a very low quality piece, if not a stub, given the size and complexity of the company. As a Zurich employee, I was told not to go beyond correcting factual errors. Isn't there a way Zurich can help to improve this article that would be compliant with Wikipedia’s rules/guidelines? This is in no way a balanced or thorough article about Zurich Insurance. Zurich is a very large company, with a long history, and employs thousands of people. Rename Page[edit]

Zurich Financial Services has recently changed it's name to Zurich Insurance Group. I've managed to rename all the pages, but the Spanish version which needs to be renamed from (Discuss) – 'Zurich Financial Serices → Zurich Insurance Group The page appears to be protected from a "page move" and I wondered if someone might be able to help me move it please?

Pruning[edit]

I've got rid of some of the more over-the-top marketing/publicity material to bring it more into line with other similar companies. It still looks a bit like a self publicity article, but not as bad as it was. MikesPlant (talk) 13:01, 6 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
