Length and date of creation are fine. The proposed hook is referenced to a German language source and accepted in good faith. The article has few citations in general (fewer than one per paragraph) and states at the foot that it relies heavily on the corresponding Wikipedia German language article. How much of it is the author's own work and how much mere translation? Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:21, 12 December 2011 (UTC)

"A "mere translation"? Really? I think you have no idea of the labor and research involved in turning a foreign language article into acceptable English prose. As for what this also implies, that you think that a 100% translation would not be eligible for DYK (this is about 90%), I don't think that's even relevant. I did think the depth of sourcing might be an issue (sourcing it further was impossible). If that keeps it out so be it. I used the word "mere" not to belittle the considerable effort involved in translation, but to question whether a translated article could be considered a "new" article as per DYK policy. I await somebody else's views on this. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:00, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

I've had a look at this article and it's a good piece of work. The 'Zirkus-Plakate' book is online and confirms the hook fact. For DYK purposes, foreign language articles translated to English are considered new content. It's a WP requirement for such a translation to be noted on the page and that requirement has been met.
