Article new enough, long enough. Although I think that the hook presents a fair assessment of the overall work of Tsonis regarding climate change, I am concerned that there is no exact passage in the article regarding the proposed phrasing of the hook. I would prefer if there were an exact sentence in the article, followed by a reference for verification, which could then be used as a hook. In addition the following sentences are close to the descriptions found in the sources and need quotation marks or additional changes in wording and structure: The authors also argued that different forms of natural climate variability can synchronize, shifting the climate into a new state, and that this may explain the cessation of warming beginning in 2001 or 2002.[6][7] He has argued that natural forces, especially ocean currents, may play a more significant role in climate change than human activity, and that the Earth is currently in a period of cooling that could last for as long as fifty years.[8] In 2013, he reiterated his view that this cooling trend was occurring, and might continue for the next 15 years.

- So as to address your concerns, I have rewritten the quotes and put them in quotation marks, and am proposing the following alternative hook: ALT1: ...that Anastasios Tsonis' research has concluded that, as a result of natural processes, the Earth might have entered a new "climate state" in 2001 or 2002?
