  • Other than that, the image is so old that it is obviously in public domain. The article length and referencing are good. Earwig has not uncovered any important copyright violation. Neutrality appears to be good. The date of Sept 22 is correct for new article. I don't like how the hook calls out "roles" rather than the person in the image. The hook wording is scattershot and confusing. One particular aspect of the topic should be selected and highlighted, not a grab bag of the whole thing. The facts of the hook are not all confirmed by citations: two decades as first baritone is calculated from start ref to ending ref, but there is a problem with the timeline of the Dutchman in the article, which says in the image caption that he played the Dutchman around 1885, but in the article text the role is placed in the four-year period from 1888 to 1892. The hook also says something about Salome which I cannot decipher. Binksternet (talk) 04:00, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for the thorough review. When I deal with the lifetime achievements of a great singer, I feel one aspect is too little. I "grabbed" three things which give him character and would interest me most: the image with a related fact, the invitation to a leading house in a different country in a leading role that cause a scandal at the time (sorry for omitting the link to the house which I had planned, and the silly mistake in the pictured clause), and his courage to do new things. As the many new roles he created (and that are not even in the article yet, for lack of time) are no longer known today, I would be willing to sacrifice those first. I am sure he was the iconic Holländer often, so see no problem with a different time and places of the image. - I'm working towards a 150th birthday in 2 days, please be patient. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:57, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
ALT1: ... that Baptist Hoffmann, a leading baritone at the Berlin Court Opera (pictured in a role), appeared as Jochanaan in the first Salome at the Royal Opera House in London there in 1906?
I reviewed now Template:Did you know nominations/Worth Waiting For. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:44, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
  • QPQ is done, but some article work is needed, to introduce the bit about performing in London in Salome. No hurry! Binksternet (talk) 19:53, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
I'll need it, - checking I found that I was confused, and the original was correct, "the house" was the before-mentioned house in Berlin, but yes he also sang in London. Give a few days please to sort it out. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:12, 6 October 2020 (UTC)
ALT1a: ... that Baptist Hoffmann, a leading baritone at the Berlin Court Opera (pictured in a role), appeared as Jochanaan in the first Salome there in 1906? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 22:48, 8 October 2020 (UTC)
  • Still need to see Jochanaan and Salome in the biography. Binksternet (talk) 02:54, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
Binksternet, I added now Salome and five world premieres. Thank you for patience. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 15:38, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
  • All good! Going with ALT1a. Binksternet (talk) 16:48, 9 October 2020 (UTC)
