Bexley Hospital[edit]

  • ... that Bexley Hospital was a British psychiatric hospital which until 1961 had a small farm with chickens, ducks, cattle, sheep and pigs as well as a vegetable garden?

Created by LoopZilla (talk). Self-nominated at 21:16, 27 November 2016 (UTC).

  • Disclosure: I have copyedited the article, rearranging content but only removing the reference supporting the comment I replaced with a "distinguish" hatnote.
  • Review: The article is long enough (just), new enough, and has sufficient citations. No QPQ required as LoopZilla has only three DYK credits. I have corrected "an British" in the hook to "a British." Earwig shows no copyvio issues. Article is neutral and policy-compliant, and I have classed it as Start (though it is arguably borderline with Stub, in my view). The hook fact is supported by this source and included in the article with inline citations. However, I think the hook could be more succinct, such as:
Having said that, I also think there are hookier options, such as:
  • (ALT2): ... that at Bexley Hospital, the patients looked after the farm animals, maintained the grounds, and did the cleaning?
I think that the work at the hospital is surprising and it's hookier when the type of hospital is not identified.
  • I would give a tick to ALT0, but others may object on "involvement" grounds because of the copy editing. LoopZilla, if you have thoughts on these ALTs, please chime in. If you prefer one of them, I'll certainly need to call for another reviewer as I definitely can't tick a hook I suggested. EdChem (talk) 08:04, 1 December 2016 (UTC)
I like ALT1 (since it is brief), but still support my original ALT0 LoopZilla (talk) 11:24, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

I can't tick due to conflict, having suggested ALTs. Article is ready, IMO, just need a check on hooks. EdChem (talk) 12:05, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

Many thanks. LoopZilla (talk) 12:41, 1 December 2016 (UTC)

  • Hospitals with physically sick patients are unlikely to do work on a farm. Those with mental illness are not likely to physically constrained. LoopZilla (talk) 21:45, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
    • That's true, LoopZilla. There's no need to be concerned about the lack of action here, someone will get to this nomination in time. It's not unusual for DYK for action to take a while.  :) EdChem (talk) 21:58, 7 December 2016 (UTC)
All hooks check out, I prefer ALT2. Antony–22 (talkcontribs) 03:25, 9 December 2016 (UTC)
