Bombing of Nagaoka in World War II[edit]

Nagaoka after the raid.
Nagaoka after the raid.
  • ... that during the bombing of Nagaoka in World War II, 80% of the urban area of the city was burned down?
    • ALT1:... that during the bombing of Nagaoka in World War II, the 313th Bombardment Wing dropped 163,000 incendiary bombs totaling 925 tons in a 110 minute period?

  • Article is not long enough but new enough. Where is it said that Nagaoka was lacking targets of military significance? And the population number. I am also not sure if there being a more plausible reason for the air raid than Nagaoka being Yamamoto's hometown is the same thing as saying that it didn't play a role. The second paragraph may use a rewrite as it's fairly similar in wording with the source. One source is inaccessible. Hooks need the article link bolded, the first hook is better but I am not sure if "destroyed" and "burned down" here are equivalent. No QPQ needed. Sorry MChew, but this article is slightly too short for DYK. . It seems there is ample material in the quoted sources with many details that could be added. I would also move the "Notes" to "Citations", a minor correction and not a requirement, just a suggestion. Maury Markowitz (talk) 15:28, 9 November 2016 (UTC)

@Maury Markowitz: I have expanded it to above the required amount. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 06:11, 19 November 2016 (UTC)
Iazyges, while you expanded the article, and it is now long enough, you don't seem to have dealt with the issues raised by Jo-Jo Eumerus. Also, please note that hook facts need to be cited by the end of the sentence in which they occur; waiting until the end of the paragraph is not sufficient for DYK. Thanks. • I have reworded the second paragraph, and put a citation on the hook, I have removed some bits that I haven't been able to find citations for. I am looking for a citation for the population. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 01:03, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
I have been unable to find any source for the population, and have thus removed it. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 19:51, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
Still a bit uncertain on I am also not sure if there being a more plausible reason for the air raid than Nagaoka being Yamamoto's hometown is the same thing as saying that it didn't play a role. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 09:49, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
That's not an issue for DYK to consider, the body text is referenced as it stands, so our job here is done. Maury Markowitz (talk) 13:05, 21 December 2016 (UTC)
@Jo-Jo Eumerus and Maury Markowitz: Your issues seem to have been addressed: are you comfortable signing off on this? Or are there further issues to consider? Vanamonde (talk) 12:25, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
I don't think my issue has been addressed; it still seems like the article says something different than the source. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 12:37, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
@Jo-Jo Eumerus: I have changed "does not" to "is unlikely", I think that fixes it suitably. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 13:09, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
My issue was length and that does appear to have been addressed. Maury Markowitz (talk) 12:46, 11 January 2017 (UTC)
Did a re-review, I am concerned that "railway junction" does not appear in the source. Everything else seems fine. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 10:02, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
@Jo-Jo Eumerus: It has been removed. Iazyges Consermonor Opus meum 12:55, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
unless @Maury Markowitz: has more issues. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 13:25, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
Nope, I'm good. Maury Markowitz (talk) 14:44, 19 January 2017 (UTC)
Some of the information was misquoted from the cited sources. I fixed these up and also added some information about the peace statue. Yoninah (talk) 21:04, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
