  • for the original hook (although I'd suggest "...is not found only in China?" as a clearer wording) Alt 7 (without the grasshopper parenthetical). New enough (created on 11 April, and submitted to DYK the same day). Long enough (> 4700 eligible characters). Within policy (indeed, this is a well-formatted, well-researched article cited to the appropriate academic sources, and without obvious copyright issues; would that they were all this way). QPQ completed. As far as hook choice goes, several of these would be viable DYK hooks, but short, punchy hooks that invite readers to investigate further are the best DYK hooks. • @Squeamish Ossifrage: Thanks for the review :) And, to me, your wording suggestion "is not found only in China" is ambiguous and allows for the possible reading where it seems like China is the only place where it isn't found (i.e., it's found everywhere else). The wording "... is not only found in China" is unambiguous, which is why I wrote it as such. Would "... is not just found in China?" be any better for you? Or "can also be found outside China?" I guess would be an option as well.
  • ALT5/6:... that China(, a genus of grasshopper,) is not just found in China?
  • ALT7:... that China can also be found outside China?
  • ALT8:... that China, a genus of grasshopper, can also be found outside China?

  • Fair enough! I think ditching "only" is the only reasonable decision then. I like the Alt 7 version the best (no grasshopper) and have amended my ticky mark accordingly. Squeamish Ossifrage (talk) 23:04, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
  • @Squeamish Ossifrage: Thanks! For clarity for future promoters I've separated ALT7 above so it's good to go. Umimmak (talk) 23:08, 18 April 2018 (UTC)
