        • ALT3:... that Chris Rowley is the first West Point graduate to reach the major leagues? [4]
  • Comment: I have been aware of DYK for some time now, but have never submitted one of my own. If there is anything that needs further attention or is missing please let me know.

  • two point: copyvio report is very low, 10.7% from [5] but this sentence can be worked a little more to avoid copyvio: "is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays of Major League Baseball (MLB)" and second the ALT0 hook is good, but it's not in the article, to be a DYK, the hook has to be in the article as well. --Elisa.rolle (talk) 00:56, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
  • The sentence "...is an American professional baseball pitcher for the (insert team) of Major League Baseball (MLB)" is the standard opener for WP:BASEBALL project pages. The Burlington Youth Baseball Association page profile on Scott Feldman (which I think you are referencing) is a word-for-word copy of Feldman's Wiki page, so it's likely that someone from the BYBA just copy-pasted it. As for the first line (or ALT0), the line from the article is "Rowley will become the first graduate of the West Point military academy to pitch in the majors", and the section of it I used is "...the first graduate of the West Point military academy to pitch in the majors" which I suppose is no good because it was written before Rowley actually played. I have added two more lines from articles published after his start. Trut-h-urts man (TC) 01:26, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
  • OK for the copyvio, but I still see in the article "On August 12, 2017, Rowley became the first United States Military Academy graduate to play in Major League Baseball" and no naming of West Point... therefore or you change the hook, or you change the article. "United States Military Academy" is generic, is not "West Point". --Elisa.rolle (talk) 01:33, 15 August 2017 (UTC)
  • The United States Military Academy is not generic - it's the correct name. West Point is a nickname for the Academy, because it is located in West Point, New York. Like calling the United States Naval Academy "Annapolis". So while the article used in reference to that line on Rowley's page uses "West Point", the Wikipedia page is titled with the correct name for the school, and that's why I used it. I will find another source for the line that uses the full name of the school. (Edit: On second thought, I suppose I could just pipe the link and have it show "West Point", so that is what I'll do).
