Duke Ernest Gottlob of Mecklenburg[edit]

Created/expanded by Ruby2010 (talk). Self nom at 04:05, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

  • Article:
    Length: 2571 characters per DYKcheck.
Newness: created in article space day of nomination (30 August)
Adequate citations: except for lead, article has inline citations throughout.
Formatted citations: citations are inline and correctly formatted using cite templates.
Reliable sources: 4 books; official website of the Royal Collection describing a picture; all seem reliable in the context they are used to support.
Neutrality: No noticeable breaches of NPOV.
Plagiarism: I have examined the three heavily cited books via Google Books and Amazon search and have not found plagiarism. I rewrote one sentence to avoid what might have been a close paraphrase.
Other: article is good to go, have not checked hook yet. I did have to fix 2 misinterpretations of sources (see article history). Consider expanding the lead in the future to provide a better summary of the article and adding a little more detail about his Hanoverian military service (he was colonel of the 8th Regt. of Infantry in Hanover and rose to the rank of General of Infantry). • Primary Hook: Hook is not accurate, conflating George III's reasons for disapproving the marriage (inequality of blood) with Papendiek's speculation that it would have given Ernest power comparable to his elder brother.
  • Alternate Hook 1:
Format: starts with ellipsis, ~180 chars., article bolded.
Citation: supported by Papendiek and cited.
    Neutrality: no NPOV issues.
Interest: well, it's reasonably "hooky". Not wonderful, but I've seen worse.

Review of article and the two hooks complete. Verified review by nominator. Choess (talk) 00:04, 4 September 2011 (UTC)

Thank you for the review. Looking at the alt hook again, do you think I should remove "of the United Kingdom"? It makes it kind of wordy, and I feel like most people have heard of William IV or can click on the article to find out. Regards, Ruby comment! 22:32, 4 September 2011 (UTC)
