Duluth Public Library (historic)[edit]

Duluth Public Library

  • Comment: There is some variance between sources about whether the library closed in the late 1970s, or 1980, or 1981, so saying "almost 40 years ago" is definitely correct if imprecise.

  • New, long enough, well referenced, no copyvio, QPQ done, and the hook is okay. Image is relevant, is CC BY-SA 3.0, and has rollover text. Overall, this is good to go. I would however recommend that you include a note regarding the conflicting dates of the closure in the article; while that is not necessary for this DYK, it would further improve the quality of the article. ;-) Applodion (talk) 12:29, 4 January 2018 (UTC)
  • I can go add a footnote about that. Thanks for the review. Chris857 (talk) 04:16, 5 January 2018 (UTC)
  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but don't find the hook hooky at all. Since it is listed on the NRHP, it should have more details describing the architecture; perhaps something from there could be used as a hook? Yoninah (talk) 21:03, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
  • Note: this time of year is pretty busy for me, I should be able to get something by this weekend. Chris857 (talk) 04:52, 25 January 2018 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah: - which of these topics (not full hooks yet) would seem most hooky to you? (a few would need a little more written in the article)
  • after receiving $50k from Carnegie for building the library, they had to ask for another $25k
  • that the cornerstone was laid on July 4
  • that the design and architect were changed after bids were advertised for the original architects' design
  • that a window (stained-glass?) in the reference room was exhibited at the 1893 World's Fair
  • @Yoninah: I've added material about the windows (and other interior architecture). Here is a proposed hook:
  • OK, thanks. Let's get another editor to review ALT2, and then the promoter can choose. Calling on new reviewer. Yoninah (talk) 11:53, 29 January 2018 (UTC)
Rest of the review has been done by Applodion, so I'm here only to check the hooks. Both are interesting and cited in the article, but I guess ALT1a is my preference. Narutolovehinata5 tccsdnew 15:04, 3 February 2018 (UTC)
