Frances Lupton[edit]

Created by BrainyBabe (talk). Self nominated at 22:54, 19 July 2013 (UTC).

  • Comment: if this is approved, it would be great if the hook could appear on the same day as the royal baby, or shortly thereafter. I didn't create the article for the greater glory of Kate, but if a little of the excess attention could reflect back on a worthy ancestor, so much the better. • Article is long enough, probably new enough (some content comes from other existing articles), and adequately sourced. I assume QPQ does not apply yet (although note for future reference it may nevertheless improve your chances of getting a nomination reviewed). I would like to propose a shorter, hookier hook.
ALT1 ... that an ancestor of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, worked to create educational opportunities for women and co-founded Leeds Girls' High School in 1876?
I think relatively little of it comes from existing WP articles; some is from the ODNB (her entry and those of her relatives) and some is from other sources, mostly scholarly. The ALT1 hook is fine by me - maybe even better to move "an" within the link, to make it clearer that it points to one particular person rather than all Kate's ancestors? But that is a trivial point. I will go and learn what QPQ is! The baby is here now; let's get the pioneer educator in front of some eyes. BrainyBabe (talk) 18:13, 23 July 2013 (UTC)
Good to go with ALT1 hook. I was in two minds about including the "an" inside the wikilink, so I have moved it there now. QPQ refers to the quid pro quo review requirement for DYK nominations (waived for the first five but I have done it since my first self-nomination and it seems to help get attention). • Comment: Her ONDB section alone exceeds 1,500 characters so definitely new enough. HelenOnline 13:54, 25 July 2013 (UTC)
