- I've made a number of WP:MOS edits to the article and tidied things up. Nominator/creator looks to be exempt from reviewing a hook in return. The length and date of the article are fine, and the hook is nice and catchy, but the reason I will currently
decline is that the source given for the hook was written by the subject himself. Can you provide an alternative source that corroborates what the hook says—one that was written by a third party? matt (talk) 09:23, 1 July 2012 (UTC) - Thanks v much for the cleanup on the article. I'm a n00b and this was my first DYK submission so it was a bit of a long shot. Source for the hook is 1999 so it should be okay, but I'll see if I can find corroboration. - Independent sources say he "join[ed] the anti-euro campaign", which is reflected in the other article. Also, the article has no reference that support the link to the 2010 European sovereign-debt crisis. Third issue, none of the independent sources are actually about him; the biographical information comes from Standard Chartered (not independent), U of Warwick (not independent), London Speakers Bureau (seems to be a commercial interest which he participates in, therefore not independent). The other sources don't discuss the person in depth. As such, I'm afraid he doesn't pass WP:N right now. — Crisco 1492 (talk) 05:57, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
No new sourcing added to establish his notability, so it does not meet DYK requirements. Please do try again with other new articles in the future! BlueMoonset (talk) 03:00, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
Cool. Thanks everyone for the feedback. Still learning. Point about notability is good - looking at the refs in more detail I see that they all lead back to the word of the subject himself, so hardly objective. Do I need to delete the DYK applicaiton now? Mcsony (talk) 14:33, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
