  • ... that a 1902 magazine article stated that Helene Odilon (pictured) was "said to be the greatest stage actress in Germany"?

  • I included the marriages section without dates because I couldn’t find any dates for them. It has been suggested by Women In Red members, including an admin, that I may be trying to belittle women because of that section. I just can't read German so that I can fill in the missing dots. Overall: hook is good but the quote needs tightening up, we have different versions in the text and here, with and without "currently". in the article, the quote needs a reference at the end of the sentence and it would be good to have the reference here as well for easy checking. since there is already one reference in the lead, i think the quote should be referenced there as well. just one other point, "she has been compared to Gabrielle Réjane because of her United States appearances" reads weirdly to me, could you rephrase that, why would she be compared to Réjane because of her US appearances? otherwise the article reads ok, if you want to expand it i would recommend google translating the de.wikipedia page and using sources from there, that can sometimes work for me. • @Mujinga: Thanks for the review. The source says "and in her few American appearances she has been compared to Rejane". I reworded the sentence, but the source doesn't go into detail. If it helps, I can remove that part. I added a direct citation for the hook and I also added it to the lead. The source is here. The source uses the word "currently" so I suggest ALT1: ... that a 1902 magazine article stated that Helene Odilon (pictured) was "said to be currently the greatest stage actress in Germany"? SL93 (talk) 14:50, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
  • OK SL93 thanks for the changes. I've altered the lead sentence a bit around the quote, feel free to change it if you don't like it. I would also say two times "was" is better than two times "has been" in the Rejane sentence, which otherwise makes more sense now. ALT1 is working for me but we still need to iron out the quote which i can only partially see in the restricted googlebooks view (must be geo-restricted). In ALT1 it is "said to be currently the greatest stage actress in Germany" and in the article it is "said to be currently the greatest actress in Germany" without "stage". I can only see "said to be currently the greatest" even with the link you supplied! Mujinga (talk) 15:07, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
  • @Mujinga: I used "was" in that sentence per your comment. Sorry for messing up the quote. I was trying to multitask with other things. I crossed out the word "stage" in ALT1. The full quote is "The German actor, Adolph von Sonnenthal, associated with Helene Odilon, who is said to be currently the greatest actress in Germany, will shortly play a brief season at the Powers' Theater." • OK SL93 it's enjoyable to work through this with you. To make it easy for the prepper down the line can you give the final ALT with the reference all in one place? ALT1 without "stage" is working for me. Then i can give the tick, cheers Mujinga (talk) 15:24, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
  • @Mujinga: ALT1: ... that a 1902 magazine article stated that Helene Odilon (pictured) was "said to be currently the greatest actress in Germany"? Source. Quote - "The German actor, Adolph von Sonnenthal, associated with Helene Odilon, who is said to be currently the greatest actress in Germany, will shortly play a brief season at the Powers' Theater."
