Helleria brevicornis[edit]

  • ... that the woodlouse Helleria brevicornis is the only terrestrial isopod that has retained the ancestral behaviour of precopulatory mate guarding? Source: "Helleria brevicornis is the only terrestrial isopod that has retained the ancestral behaviour of female mate guarding" ([1]) & "Oniscidean isopods lack prolonged guarding, ... The only known exceptions to this are the supralittoral species of the genus Ligia and the terrestrial Helleria brevicornis, both of which have guarding..." ([2])

  • Comment: I'm trying to source a photo of H. brevicornis that has a suitable license but it's a long shot.

  • The article is new enough and long enough. It is neutral and doesn't violate copyright. Inline citations are used, assuming good faith for some paywalled sources. The hooks are cited. This is your first DYK, so QPQ is not needed. I don't think this is necessary for DYK, but I would suggest adding page numbers to the book citations, such as Evolutionary Biology of Land Isopods. • Thanks. I have reviewed a DYK anyway. I've also modified book citations as suggested. Edit-pi (talk) 07:00, 27 July 2018 (UTC)
  • Good. Just to clarify, I've already given my approval above. Gulumeemee (talk) 01:48, 28 July 2018 (UTC)
