Jozef Raskin[edit]

Pater Jozef Raskin
Pater Jozef Raskin

5x expanded by Checkingfax (talk) and Picomtn (talk). Nominated by Checkingfax (talk) at 10:26, 21 March 2016 (UTC).

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
Image: Image is freely licensed, used in the article, and clear at 100px.
QPQ: None required.

Overall: This interesting article needs much better references before it can feature on the Main Page. Under DYK rules, the hook needs a citation, and every paragraph must have at least one; but the references are anyway not up to Wikipedia standards. Other concerns on the talk page. Green tickY – References have been upgraded. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 09:33, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

Green tickY – Hook now fully cited. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 08:27, 28 March 2016 (UTC)
Update: a lot of work has been done on this, with good results. I'm still not comfortable about the sourcing:
  • Under DYK rules, each and every paragraph must have at least one citation
  • The www.standbeelden.be site appears to be a blog (who's Tony-Luc Blickx?), even if quite a serious one, and it's the only source for the "… duitsvijandige …" quote; can a better source for that be found? If not, I think it should be removed from the hook
  • (not relevant to DYK) is the link between Raskin and Leopold Vindictive 200 actually stated in any of the references?
Checkingfax, how many DYK nominations have you made? If it's more than five you need a QPQ (review of someone else's nomination) for this to be eligible.
Leaving this on "maybe" for now. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 07:35, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
Green tickY – Hi, Justlettersandnumbers. This is my 2nd nomination, but I went along for the ride with five more, with one of those being pulled from the queue for being negative about a living person. See my user page for my DYK section.
Green tickY – Changed to guillotined per your suggestion. I will check on the other stuff. The main author is out of town and off-wiki for 10 days so there is no hurry on closing this out. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 07:53, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
Green tickY – Hi, Justlettersandnumbers. I have edited the hook per your comments. Also, the DYK guidelines state that QPQ is required for editors who have more than five DYK nominations. This is my 2nd nom (the other is Planned Parenthood). Ping me back when you circle around on this DYK. No hurry, as Picomtn is still off-wiki. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 21:02, 3 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi, Justlettersandnumbers. Editor Picomtn is back from Wikibreak if that is what is holding down this process. Ping me back. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 08:13, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
  • @Checkingfax: The "resolved mark" that you are using looks just like the green approval tick which reviewers use to indicate that a nomination is ready for promotion to prep. I have changed your approval ticks to {{y}} "yes" ticks and recommend that you use the "yes" tick in future to avoid confusing prep promoters. Thank you, Yoninah (talk) 14:52, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
Just in case it's not clear from the above, the sticking-point here is the referencing. Every paragraph must have at least one citation to a reliable source, and the facts in the hook must also be adequately referenced. There's a citation of the hasel.be source against the sentence about his statue in Aarschot, but that source doesn't mention it. He's interesting and obviously notable, it shouldn't be too hard to find better sources than a blog and imapicture. This book and this one both confirm that he has a statue on the high bridge in Aarschot; one of them gives the name of the sculptor too. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 18:43, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi, Justlettersandnumbers (with cc to Picomtn). Can you kindly create citations for those two books? I do not know how, and they are both on the Italian version of Google Books. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 20:47, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi, Justlettersandnumbers (with cc to Picomtn). I have inserted the three references for the statue. Please give this another once over. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 23:54, 10 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi, Justlettersandnumbers (with cc to Picomtn and BlueMoonset}). All sections are now fully referenced, plus there are the five books in the bibliography to fall back on. Please take another look-see at this DYK. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 23:15, 11 April 2016 (UTC)
Sourcing is now OK, if not overkill – some of the less reliable sources could at this point be removed. Hook question: what source says that he was guillotined by the Gestapo? Was he? Maybe this should be changed to something like "… guillotined in Germany in 1943 …" or "… guillotined for espionage (etc) …"? Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 11:34, 17 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi, Justlettersandnumbers. The sources say "the Gestapo" and I think that is a stronger hook. "guillotined for espionage" would be an adequate backup if you cannot find the Gestapo source. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 11:49, 20 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi, Justlettersandnumbers. It is now GTG. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 03:27, 21 April 2016 (UTC)
Hi, Justlettersandnumbers. Please mark the hook as referenced now. Cheers! {{u|Checkingfax}} {Talk} 23:21, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
The hook has been modified and is now acceptably referenced. Thank you, Checkingfax, this now seems fine on all counts. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 22:45, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
