Levels (Avicii song)

  • ... that Mike Posner was originally going to provide vocals for "Levels"? Source: "Posner shares, '...he would always ... send me tracks he was working on, and ask me to write to them. He actually sent me "Levels."'...he took not one pass at attempting a topline for the tune, but 'like 6 of em, because I couldn't get it right...I mean they were good, but not the thing.'"[1]
    • ALT1:... that Mike Posner was originally going to provide vocals for "Levels", but felt like they weren't the thing? Source: "Posner shares, '...he would always ... send me tracks he was working on, and ask me to write to them. He actually sent me "Levels."'...he took not one pass at attempting a topline for the tune, but 'like 6 of em, because I couldn't get it right...I mean they were good, but not the thing.'" [2]
    • ALT2:... that Mike Posner has claimed that he was originally going to provide vocals for "Levels"? "Posner shares, '...he would always ... send me tracks he was working on, and ask me to write to them. • Reviewed: This is my second DYK nomination so a QPQ isn't required.

Improved to Good Article status by Lazman321 (talk). Self-nominated at 00:22, 30 October 2020 (UTC).

General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: None required.

Overall: The wording on ALT1 is a bit fuzzy (contractions and "the thing") but since all hooks are the same, I am passing the nom and ask for ALT0 or ALT2 to be promoted. Regards, IceWelder [] 09:50, 3 November 2020 (UTC)

  • Hi, I came by to promote this, but I don't understand why any of the hooks are hooky. They sound like something out of a fan magazine for people who know who he is. Yoninah (talk) 19:40, 9 November 2020 (UTC)
I mean, hooks are supposed to be interesting. But here, is this better: Lazman321 (talk) 19:48, 9 November 2020 (UTC)
  • ALT 3... that EDM artist Mike Posner has claimed in an interview that he was originally going to provide vocals for "Levels", a song by another EDM artist, Avicii? "Posner shares, '...he would always ... send me tracks he was working on, and ask me to write to them. He actually sent me "Levels."'...he took not one pass at attempting a topline for the tune, but 'like 6 of em, because I couldn't get it right...I mean they were good, but not the thing.'"[4]
  • @Lazman321: OK, but why is that hooky? It sounds like a news item. I and many other non-U.S. readers have no idea who Posner is. Perhaps try something that we can relate to, like an interesting detail about the song itself. Thanks, Yoninah (talk) 19:52, 9 November 2020 (UTC)
Again, hooks are meant to be interesting. Hooks are meant is "hook" the reader into the article, hence the term, "hook". That is why the hook is "hooky". But, if you want a detail from the song itself, here are two more hooks.
  • ALT 5... that "Levels" has been deemed one of the greatest songs of all time by Billboard magazine? "Ten Reasons Why Avicii's 'Levels' Is One of the Greatest Songs of All Time"[6]
  • Well, I've been volunteering at DYK for more than a decade, so you don't have to tell me what a hook is. Thank you for the alts. ALT5 is the type of hook we usually run, ALT4 is also interesting. Pinging @IceWelder: to review these alts. Yoninah (talk) 20:41, 9 November 2020 (UTC)
  • @Yoninah and Lazman321: Both are fine; I'd prefer ALT4. Note that I fixed the punctuation in the new ALTs. Regards, IceWelder [] 09:19, 10 November 2020 (UTC)
