Lo Fu-chu[edit]

* ... that Taiwanese legislator Lo Fu-chu allegedly had a political rival abducted, blindfolded, stripped naked, and locked inside a dog cage that was left on the side of the road beside a banner that mocked him?

  • ALT1: ... that when questioned about controversial aspects of his political career, Taiwanese legislator Lo Fu-chu explained: "When I beat people up, it's because I'm trying to get legislation approved"?

  • This article is new enough and long enough. I have removed the word "handcuffed" from the hook and the text of the article because the cited source did not mention it. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 19:38, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
Comment: Alleged to have done bad things? Hooks that focus unduly on negative aspects of living individuals should be avoided, no? --PFHLai (talk) 15:26, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
  • The original hook was the most sensational one that I could think of, and the allegation is one of the most widely reported "facts" about Lo. If something more neutral and factual is required, I have added an alternative.
  • I believe that the statement about handcuffing is from Chen. I will re-add it if I can find a link that proves this.Ferox Seneca (talk) 16:04, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
  • The original hook has been struck; at 206 characters, it is over the maximum allowed for DYK. Need a review of the ALT1 hook (193 characters, a bit on the long side, but legal). The reviewer should remember both that DYK hooks are supposed to be neutral, and that hooks on BLP articles should not be unduly negative. BlueMoonset (talk) 00:02, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
  • The article has serious BLP issues. It represents as fact some very negative statements that the cited sources represent only as allegations (for example, statements that this man got involved in politics to avoid criminal prosecution for being an organized crime leader). Before this can be used on the main page, it will need careful revision to ensure that the contents are solidly supported by reliable sources. I see that the article hasn't been edited since September 20 -- has the creator lost interest? --Orlady (talk) 02:56, 21 October 2013 (UTC)
  • Nominator/creator has not edited on Wikipedia since September 22 (the comment on this template, in fact). It has been over a week since Orlady noted the serious BLP issues and pinged the nominator's talk page. It's time to close this as unsuccessful. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:22, 31 October 2013 (UTC)
