Pope (horse)[edit]

The horses Pope (foreground) and Wizard running in the 1809 Derby Stakes at Epsom.

  • ... that racehorse Pope came from behind to take the lead "within a few strides of the winning-post" in a close finish (pictured) to win the 1809 Derby Stakes "by a neck"?

  • :P I'm going through and trying to get the oldest ones gone, hence reviewing this even though it was nominated 11 days after the expansion. Being nice with the criteria.
  • Article is new enough and long enough based on the date added on. Both images are public domain. Article is supported by inline citations. Article reads as neutral enough. Plagiarism check of web sources: here and an additional spot check sources that cannot be run through duplication detector give me no reason to feel particularly concerned. Hook is formatted correctly. Hook fact is supported by sources that check out. Not the most interesting hook for me personally but given the article contents, interesting enough. Article reads as neutral enough. --LauraHale (talk) 20:19, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Good enough to get the tick to go. --LauraHale (talk) 20:19, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
