  • I agree that this would be great for 13 November. I have sorted and referenced this article, so hopefully this should pass DYK criteria. And can I suugest this file: File:Royal British Legion's Paper Poppy - white background.jpg as the hook image. It'll be great if this could be reviewed quickly, so we can sort out any issues in time.   • Adequate length, sufficiently new, and I agree Zangar has earned a co-credit. Referencing is adequate but I saw some close paraphrasing - so I fixed it. I also added some additional stats from the BBC article and I think there is more there that could usefully be added. I also suggest replacing "remembrance cross" with "token of remembrance" as in the MoD article which depicts them, and simply explaining that originally only crosses were made. However, I have two concerns before passing this. One is that everything in the lead paragraph following "approximately 36 million remembrance poppies" is not in the body of the article; and the Scottish factory is not in the lead. This needs to be rejiggered: the lead should be shorter and all the figures in it should be in the body (where they may need an additional ref., but the information is given in the cited sources) and the Scottish factory should also be mentioned in the lead. The other is that although there are sources cited for the production numbers of both factories, the hook is a synthesis - it involves adding the two numbers. I'm not sure this is permitted. So I propose
    ALT1 ... that every year a Poppy Factory in England produces approximately 36 million remembrance poppies and one in Scotland approximately 5 million?
    Also, Remembrance Sunday is the 13th, but elsewhere in the Commonwealth Remembrance Day is still observed on the 11th, which is tomorrow. Consider fast-tracking this for then instead? Yngvadottir (talk) 19:02, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
I have tried to address your suggestion and first concern. But surely arithmetic (36 + 5 ~ 40) is not synthesis. Whatever: do as you see fit. I would be exceptionally happy to see this on the Main Page on Armistice Day. -- Ferma (talk) 19:45, 10 November 2011 (UTC)
Looks great. I think as WP:CALC allows for routine calculations for article space, this can be applied to DYK hooks as well and we could use the original hook. Cheers, Zangar (talk) 09:57, 11 November 2011 (UTC)
