Wow! What a story! On good souces, offline sources accepted AGF, no copyvio obvious. - Sigh. I may be the wrong reviewer for this, because I don't like the hook which at a glance looks so perfect. I didn't get interested because of it, but because she is a woman, and I prefer reviewing articles about women ;) - Key point: the hook tells us too little about her. She could have met the two at parties, not having worked for one (amourous interest involved) and professionally interviewed the other, and written a book about the background. If that book had a shorter title, we could just say that she wrote it, which I'd find much more interesting already, and even more interesting that she became friends with the widow. DYK has its limits, but you might try? If not, I'll approve ALT2, but can we have a better wording than saying "individual" then, and drop "American" because it is not unusual in this case? - Suggestions for the article (not needed for approval): an infobox would clarify for me her names, where (and that) she studied, and for whom she worked. In section Author ..., I'd like the new name come sooner, as each section should have the subjects's name, such as "She changed her name to ... when she married". --Gerda Arendt (talk) 05:46, 15 July 2020 (UTC)
@Gerda Arendt: Thanks very much for the review. Regarding the article, I have added an infobox and I have reworded the beginning of the 'Author' section as you suggested. I also got my Newspapers.com account renewed a couple of days ago, so I have added to the 1950s/1960s material in the article with news stories from it.
Regarding the hook, I understand your perspective. My perspective has always been that the hook is not a quick summary of the article, or even a quick summary of one interesting aspect of the article. To me, the hook has one and only one purpose: to get the reader to click through to the article. Thus I like hooks to be short and mysterious, which is the idea behind the hooks I proposed. The reader will wonder, what kind of person could have known both of them? and click on the link. At that point, they will be lured in and find out all the interesting things about her. Now we could expand it a bit to
ALT3:... that translator, journalist, author and historian Priscilla Johnson McMillan is the only individual who personally knew both President John F. Kennedy and his assassin Lee Harvey Oswald?
That does say more about her. But to try to work in as well Marina, or book titles, would be too unwieldy I think. Wasted Time R (talk) 12:24, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
I see your point, approve both. I bet she'll make the stats. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:48, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
My preference would be ALT1, not sure that young people would even know Oswald was Kennedy's assassin. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 13:50, 17 July 2020 (UTC)
