Sam Bat[edit]

  • ... that Sam Bat presented two maple baseball bats to George W. Bush, one inscribed with "future commissioner of baseball", as gifts during his state visit to Canada in 2004? [1]: "In 2004, he was invited to meet U.S. President George W. Bush and Secretary of Sate Condoleezza Rice in Ottawa, where his bats served as official gifts for the presidential visit."
    • ALT1:... that Barry Bonds used a maple baseball bat manufactured by Sam Bat to set an MLB single-season home run record in 2001? Slugger has bonds with Ottawa bat maker: "Bonds credited Sam Holman with crafting the ideal bat, which he used to knock 73 balls out of the park last year and grab one of the game's most coveted titles."
    • ALT2:... that during a US state visit to Canada, the owner of Sam Bat arranged a telephone conversation between baseball player Barry Bonds and one of his fans, Secretary of State nominee Condoleeza Rice? [2] "Mr. Holman telephoned Mr. Bonds from last night's reception and handed the phone to Condoleezza Rice, the incoming U.S. secretary of state, who is known to be a fan of the ball player."

  • Comment: sigh, I thought the hold period was eight weeks, not six. (I would have waited to move this to article space another week or two...) Mindmatrix 21:43, 5 February 2017 (UTC)
  • New enough, long enough, neutrally written, well referenced, no close paraphrasing seen. The page has only one fair use image, the company logo. ALT1 is the best baseball hook for MLB's Opening Day, so I struck the others. Hook ref verified and cited inline. QPQ done. It's now less than 6 weeks until April 2, so I'm going to IAR and move this to the Special Occasions holding area for Opening Day. ALT1 good to go. Yoninah (talk) 23:40, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
