Shaka at Birth (Tōdai-ji)[edit]

Shata at Birth at Tōdaiji (National Treasure)

  • Comment: Please can this go out on April 8, Buddha's Birthday

  • Hook: Not quite sure I like it, although it is interesting. The article is about a specific statue, not statues depicting this as a whole.
Article: New enough, long enough; date request logical, I agree. References thorough. No close paraphrasing on this source
Summary: Hold for hook issues. Crisco 1492 (talk) 13:16, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
Ok; see e pluribus unum (ignoring the ludicrous POV): I think lede, main body, and cited refs make it clear that this is an instance of a type; this page appears, at least for now, to be the fullest discussion here of the scriptural background for and iconography of this type; and my wits escape me for an equally correct, compliant, and catchy hook, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 14:32, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
  • How about ALT1 ... that the statue of Shaka at Birth at Tōdai-ji (pictured) was anointed with sweet hydrangea tea on April 8 in celebration of Buddha's Birthday for over (number) years?, assuming a source is available. Otherwise
ALT2: ... that the statue of Shaka at Birth at Tōdai-ji (pictured) is the largest example of a type of statue anointed with sweet hydrangea tea on April 8 in celebration of Buddha's Birthday? Crisco 1492 (talk) 15:30, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
Like ALT2, thanks, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 15:39, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
