Speeches and debates of Ronald Reagan[edit]

  • ... that Ronald Reagan's speech (pictured) following the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster is ranked amongst the top 10 American political speeches of the 20th century?

  • ALT1: ... that Ronald Reagan's speech (pictured) at the Berlin Wall is ranked in the top 10 greatest speeches by Time magazine?
  • ALT2: ... that the line "Tear down this wall!" from Ronald Reagan's speech (pictured) has been called "The four most famous words of Ronald Reagan's Presidency"?
  • Bystander's comment (not intending to review this): The combination of "speech" and "pictured" looks weird. It is Reagan that's pictured here, not his speech. --Pgallert (talk) 15:59, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
  • I think "Ronald Reagan's speech at the Berlin Wall (pictured)" should work well enough. Drmies (talk) 16:37, 9 August 2012 (UTC)
  • I personally like ALT1 best. That hook is properly verified. Length and date (moved from user space Aug 9) are OK. Also, this is a great article. But I'm changing "historical" in the hook to "greatest", which is what TIME called it. Lionelt, please note my comments in edit summaries--I think the article can do with an improvement in style (ironically) since it reads a bit choppy. You'll certainly need to revise it some when you nominate it for GA. DYK volunteer, consider leaving this up here for more commentary on which hook to select or on other matters. • Drmies, whatever gave you the idea that this is going to GA? What? Do I look like an overachiever or something? <smile> Seriously, thanks for the suggestions. Yeah, it's still rough. If you liked ALT1, I think you'll like this too:
  • ALT3 (ALT1 variant): ... that Ronald Reagan's speech (video shown) delivered at the Berlin Wall—"Tear down this wall!"—was ranked amongst the 10 greatest speeches by Time magazine? – Sir Lionel, EG(talk) 02:45, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
