Thaddeus Ma Daqin‎[edit]

Created/expanded by Ozhistory (talk). Self nominated at 13:39, 16 January 2014 (UTC).

  • After reducing redundancy (and its still questionable) the article is too short for DYK. Since it relied on a 200+ byte quote from BBC, it wasn't long enough before the edit either. Hopefully a source with more information about Ma can be found - right now the article basically says "he was appointed bishop, left the Chinese association, and was arrested because of it." --ThaddeusB (talk) 19:02, 25 January 2014 (UTC)
  • I have expanded the article to add further details. Ozhistory (talk) 06:01, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
  • Thank you. It is my pleasure to say this awesomely named individual now meets all requires - length, date, and compliance with policy have been verified. Suggested fact is interesting and properly cited. One minor point, I believe the fact should read:
ALT1: ... that the Catholic bishop of Shanghai, Thaddeus Ma Daqin, has been held under house arrest by the Chinese Government since 2012?
as bishop here is a descriptor, not a title. Compare: "the president of the United States, Barrack Obama, ..." vs. "President Obama..."; saying "the US President Obama..." would be quite strange. (Also, "Chinese Communist Party" shouldn't be piped to "Chinese Government".) --ThaddeusB (talk) 02:56, 29 January 2014 (UTC)
